Spotted working hard on the set of her
new film, Katie Holmes spent the afternoon with her co-stars in Kent,
Connecticut while shooting for her upcoming flick on Tuesday (May
29).
Katie looked perfectly in character for
her role as a temperamental daughter as she sported some dark, baggy clothing
while sipping on a beer and reading a book.
According to Variety, the untitled
Christian Camargo directed movie is said to be based off of Anton Chekhov's "The
Seagull" and is set in rural New England where reckless desire wreaks havoc over
Memorial Day weekend as a family confronts the volatile and fragile nature of
love.
Also starring alongside the 33-year-old
star is Allison Janney, William Hurt, Juliet Rylance, Mark Rylance and Jean
Reno. At this time no exact date has been announced on when production will wrap
or when we can expect to see the film on the big screen.

Knocking the box office giant off of its
top spot perch, "Men In Black III" grabbed the number one position to begin the

Slipping to the runner-up slot for the first time since being released a month ago, the Joss Whedon directed superhero blockbuster "The Avengers" starring Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth ended up with $9.7 million on Friday and $14.6 million on Saturday while pacing towards another $48.5 million over the long weekend to put its domestic grand total earnings at a whopping $525.2 million.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" stars reveal their reactions to Spidey's costume
What would you do if you found yourself
face-to-face with Spider-Man?
If you're Emma Stone, apparently you've just got to put your hands on him.
I sat down with Stone and her costar (and real-life beau) Andrew Garfield to talk about their upcoming movie, "The Amazing Spider-Man," and I asked them both their reactions to seeing Garfield in the full Spidey costume for the first time. Stone admitted that when she saw him in the suit, she got a bit handsy.
"It was so tactile," Stone said, "I immediately was just touching him. Because you never expect to be in the room with Spider-Man, and the suit was just so well made and so beautiful."
Garfield answered that his reaction to seeing himself in the costume inspired a mix of feelings: "It was overwhelming, of course, and surreal, and you kind of can't believe it. And that kind of remained throughout, actually. I didn't quite believe it, that it was me in the suit." He went on to say that the feeling of disbelief helped ground him. He said, "I think if I started to believe it then I'd lose my mind a little."
Garfield explained that the process of designing the suit and tailoring it to fit him perfectly was an arduous four-month long task. He said, "I had to fly certain places to get certain body scans, and my body was changing because I was training."

'Battleship' Capsizes With $25.3 Mil Launch
Universal and Hasbro Entertainment's
big-budget Battleship barely left port in its North American launch, grossing a
dismal $25.3 million.
That's well below the anticipated $35 million to $40 million that Universal and director Peter Berg were hoping for. Battleship, designed to put the studio squarely in the tentpole game, cost at least $209 million to produce, excluding a pricey marketing spend.
Battleship's international gross of $226.8 million provides some cushion, but it needed a strong domestic performance to end up in the black. A $25.3 million opening means the movie might not clear $70 million or $80 million over the long haul domestically, resulting in a notable loss for Universal and sparking plenty of Monday-morning quarterbacking within the studio about what went wrong.
There's already speculation that Battleship, starring Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker and Liam Neeson, will follow the same course as Disney's John Carter, which debuted to $30.2 million in March and topped out at $71.8 million domestically. Overseas, John Carter, also starring Kitsch, earned $200.6 million. The pic resulted in a $200 million write-down for Disney.
"It is obviously a disappointment, but we will move on. And we have Memorial Day coming up," Universal president of domestic distribution Nikki Rocco said. "The studio has a picture that already has a quarter of a billion dollars in the bank, and it won't die at $25.3 million domestically. We all know that."

Kristen Stewart Takes "Snow White" South of the Border!
Spending the weekend south-of-the-border,
Kristen Stewart was in promotional mode in Mexico City on Saturday (May
19).
The 22-year-old actress was joined by co-star Sam Claflin as the pair tended to a press conference at the St Regis Hotel for their upcoming film "Snow White and the Huntsman".
Set to hit theaters on June 1st, the fairy tale twist finds "the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) ordered to take Snow White (Stewart) into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron)."
The visit to Mexico comers just after Kristen took time to chat with The Insider about how she's maintained a level head after skyrocketing to super-stardom thanks to her role as Bella Swan in the "Twilight" mega-popular franchise.
"These types of situations (referring to the interview) are really the only times that you have to deal with it and it feels really fitting and appropriate and it makes sense," Stewart dished of her fame. "It only gets weird when it enters this strange world of suddenly you're interesting beyond your job, and some people buy in to that and think, 'Alright! Cash in! I'm like totally gonna sell myself,' and I don't think they're even aware of what they're doing."

Eva Longoria kicked off this year's Cannes Film Festival
Eva Longoria kicked off this year's
Cannes Film Festival in style when she hit the red carpet for the opening
ceremony (and "Moonrise Kingdom" premiere) in a breathtaking Marchesa gown.
Surprisingly, the dress -- which featured a 10 foot tulle train -- didn't
overwhelm the diminutive "Desperate Housewives" alumna, who also donned a chic
updo and simple diamond earrings.

Tim Burton' s Makeup Masterpieces
The classic television character, vampire Barnabas Collins, reawakens this weekend in Tim Burton' s Dark Shadows. Starring as Barnabas is, of course, Burton’s right-hand man, the versatile Johnny Depp. Depp’s Barnabas resembles the original on a basic level—he has jagged bangs, large ears, and fangs—but makeup department head Joel Harlow says there are marked differences between the two. Besides giving Depp a more modern hairstyle, pointy ear extensions, and a prosthetic nose bridge, Harlow added a Burton-esque pallor. "ohnny' Barnabas is quite a bit more pale than Jonathan Frid's " he says. " Another huge addition to Johnny is the finger extensions. His hands became their own character within his performance—I recall Tim saying that he wanted Barnabas to be very ‘tactile,’ with his hands leading the way."
Harlow also designed Depp’s makeup as Mad Hatter in Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. To complement Alice's troubled yet fun-loving friend, vivid colors were layered over Burton’s usual whitened palette. “In my experience as a makeup artist working with Tim, it is clear that his approach to makeup is to enhance not only the narrative but also the individual character,” says Harlow. “He isn’t afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to the look of a character, but only if that direction helps to convey the character’s emotional center, giving his actors more to work with. It’s almost as if the look of the character is, in itself, direction to his actors.”
Dark Shadows :A film you are worth watching
Synopsis:
In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas has the world at his feet -- or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard. A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.
Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman, to help with her family troubles.
Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins; her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard; and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins.

Johnny Depp & Co. Premiere "Dark Shadows" in London
Giving English fans a thrill, the cast of
"Dark Shadows" was in the house for the UK premiere in London today (May
9).
Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Moretz, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Eva Green all turned out for the big affair, held at the Empire Leicester Square.
Of the initial idea for the flick, Depp told press that he and director Tim Burton had a very specific motivation and vision.
"Tim and I talked early on: a vampire should look like a vampire. It was a rebellion against vampires that looked like underwear models."
As for his character Barnabas Collins, Johnny noted, "I wanted Barnabas to come across as ... this very elegant upper echelon, well-schooled gentleman who's cursed in the 18th century and brought back to probably the most surreal era of our time - the 1970s - and how he would react to things. Not just with technology and automobiles and such, but actual items of enjoyment for people like pet rocks, fake flowers, plastic fruit, troll dolls, lava lamps and the macramé owls."

Miley Cyrus's film "LOL"
Miley Cyrus' film "LOL" made a total of
only $46,500 this weekend, Movie City News estimates. That is just a few hundred
dollars more than what "Marvel's The Avengers" -- which drew a record-breaking
weekend total of more than $200 million
Based on a French film, "LOL" was meant to mark Miley Cyrus' transition into more serious acting. Also starring Demi Moore, "LOL" has been given the silent treatment by Lionsgate.
There did seem a last-ditch attempt to get a groundswell of Miley's fans (she has 5.6 million followers on Twitter) to the theaters where it was opening. Stories on mileycyrusworld.org and mileyraycyrus.org -- which literally listed every theater and city in which "LOL" would be screening -- attempted to create hype.
